Robert Hazlehurst Couper, long-time resident of Bartow county died Sunday afternoon at the home of his nephew Hamilton Stiles near Cartersville.  He attended the University of Virginia at Charlottesville, served in the CSA with a gallant record. Mr. Couper was a pioneer in the manufacture of iron in Bartow County and is remembered as a kind and gentle soul.

He is survived by one brother, Mr. James M. Couper, of Atlanta.  Mr. Couper’s parents and siblings are interred on St. Simon’s Island near Frederica, and there Mr. Couper’s remains were laid to rest on Tuesday, 25 Aug 1914.  The family plot is located in Christ Church Episcopal Cemetery.
