Boy Drowns in Acworth Private Lake

Interment:  Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Cherokee County, Georgia, USA 

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jackson Cargile of Acworth.  Survived by siblings Tommie, Jackie, and Rachel Cargile.  Rev. Dewey Tucker officiated the services.  Collins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

An 11 year old Cherokee county boy drowned Thursday in a private lake near Acworth. The dead youth was Jimmy Cargile, son of Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Cargile of Morgan Road.  His body was recovered at about 3 p.m., two hours after he drowned.

Tommy Cargile, 12, said he and his brother and two other youth, Max and Randy Grabel, had gone to the lake to pick berries.  Jimmy went out in the lake in a  boat, he said.  The next thing he knew he was calling for help in the middle of the lake.

The youth’s body was recovered by J.C. Jolley and Billy Tow of the Acworth Civil Defense rescue team, and Jimmy Burchfield.
