MRS. GUS SOULIS LOSES BROTHER-IN-LAW

Mrs. Gus Soulis, well-known young matron of Cartersville, has returned home, after being called to Augusta by the tragic death of her brother-in-law, Mr. William Carlisle Carn, 45, who was killed in a freak accident while hunting at Lake Mattamuskeet, near Swanquarter, N.C.

Hyde County, N.C., Coroner Pratt C. Williamson listed the death of Carn, who was superintendent of the dye house at Riverside Mills in Augusta, as accidental.  The coroner said that Carn and three men had taken their positions in a duck blind.  When a flock flew over, Carn jumped up in front of a partner and a full load of bird shot caught him in the back of the head, Carn dying instantly.

A native of Bowman, Ga., Carn had resided in Augusta for 25 years.  He is survived by his widow, who is the sister of Mrs. Soulis, of Cartersville; three sons and one daughter, in addition to eight grandchildren and a large family connection.

Note:  Funeral arrangements by R.E. Elliott Sons of Augusta Georgia (death certificate)
